After three days postelection protests Belarussians shaken after the police crackdown.
In Brest, several armed people attacked police officers. After warning shots were made into the air. To defend the lives and safety of the police, lethal weapons were used against the protestors. One of the attackers was wounded,
the statement said.
Belarusian authorities have admitted to using lethal weapons against the opposition for the first time. The ministry said police and security troops had used overnight only rubber bullets, fired tear gas and stun grenades.
Postelection protests took place in 25 cities across Belarus on August 11.
According to the Ministry, five thousand people were detained - more than 51 people needed medical first aid help. Fourteen police and Interior Ministry troops had injuries, some of them were hospitalized.
